We are so excited to have children’s librarian Ms. Leah back after her maternity leave! She’s dusting off the shaker eggs and her favorite read-aloud books. “I can't wait to catch up with old storytime friends and meet new ones too! Let's wiggle, dance, and read our way through the summer together!!” exclaims Ms. Leah.

The library belongs to the community, and nowhere is that more true than in our volunteer program.  Our library was founded by volunteers. In 1983, an ad in the local paper brought 68 people to a meeting to plan a library. Subsequent ads brought in donations of tens of thousands of books which were sorted and either sold or cataloged for the burgeoning collection.

This year the Nobel committee awarded its literature prize to Bob Dylan for his fifty years of writing poetry. Children readingWe live in a world that never sleeps. Globally connected 24 hours a day, we are experiencing a rate of change across the spectrum of life that is unmatched in human history. There is so much new in the news every day that we simply cannot give it all the attention it deserves.

The great work of our libraries is overseen by a five member elected Board of Trustees. Long-long-long time Board member, Jim Bannerot, will be retiring from the Board very soon, and remaining Board members will be appointing a member of the community to complete Jim’s term, through November 2018 elections.

School has definitely started again! We are always excited to see our teens back after school - studying, reading, working on projects, learning from tutors, visiting with each other, and volunteering. Along with our teens, though, comes a safety issue caused by parents using the library parking lot as a pickup spot after school instead of picking up their kids over at the school in the designated spots.
