We’ll be exploring the many facets of Creative Nonfiction – a fun, exciting, and sometimes controversial genre of writing that encompasses memoir, essays, articles, blogs, poetry, and everything in between. The journal 'Creative Nonfiction' describes this genre as “true stories told well.” Join us for writing prompts, readings and discussion, research and reporting techniques – and leave with new ideas and inspiration!

Maureen Turner Carey first fostered her love of writing at Westbank Library, where she hung out, reading books, as a kid and volunteered, shelving books, as a teen. She earned her M.F.A. in Creative Writing at San Francisco State University, where she taught writing as an adjunct English instructor until she moved back to Austin with her family.

@ Westbank Library on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. from March 24 through May 19.  The class scheduled on April 28th has been canceled.
